USA Today bestselling series!Praise for Eva's Treetop Festival (Owl Diaries #1): "Bright and colorful digital illustrations, large type, frequent speech bubbles and a familiar story make this accessible to emerging readers . . . This series promises to fill a niche for [new readers]. Keep flapping, Eva!" -- Kirkus Reviews "Appealing visuals (the text and art are set against the lined pages of Eva's diary), punny dialogue, a few pratfalls, and Eva's unflagging enthusiasm make for lively reading." -- Publishers Weekly "This early chapter book is a nice step between first readers and series such as Barbara Parks's 'Junie B. Jones' and Mary Pope Osborne's 'Magic Tree House.'" -- School Library Journal "The colorful, adorable illustrations will be irresistible to young readers. The simple text interspersed with speech bubble dialogue will engage beginning and intermediate readers alike. This "Branches" series is wonderful for beginning readers. Adorable illustrations break the short chapters into manageable chunks for new readers. The story lines are fun and exciting, keeping readers engaged. I especially like that these books help to teach a lesson. In this cute story, Eva the owl decides to "lead" her class in throwing a festival to celebrate the coming spring. The problem is, Eva thinks that leading means doing everything herself. She ignores offers from her entire class to help with props and prizes. Of course she quickly becomes overwhelmed. Eva finds herself in the position of having to ask her nemesis for help. Eva is afraid the other young owl will be mean to her. But, Eva's best friend points out that she can't control how another owl reacts; all she can do is ask for what she needs. A wonderful lesson! In the end, Eva also learns the value of teamwork just in time for her and her classmates to put on an awesome festival!
My 6 year old daughter, who happens to be named Eva and has 2 brothers of her own, loves these books! She reads them over and over again and gets excited about what she's read every time. These books are also great because it has encouraged my daughter to write in a diary and she loves making lists. She has also talked about how people she knows can relate to the owls in the book and it has given her skills to learn how to deal with those people in a positive light, especially "Meanie McMeanerson". The words, mixed with beautifully colored pictures keeps her interested in her newly budding love for reading. These are great books!!
Adorable book! So lovely and colorful, very appealing to my 7 year old and motivating to get her to do some summer reading. The book is all in color and written as diary entries. A little confusing for my young reader w speech bubbles and busy pictures, but once she understood the concept she loves it!
I was looking around to purchase a good book for my daughter of the age of 5 years old. I came around this book and saw the reviews. I personally love the book. My two girls of ages 3 and 5 were glued to the book and couldn't get enough. It catches their attention, perfect illustration and it's easy to read.. I'm a fan of it and so are my girls. My sister saw it and now wants to order for my two nieces. Parents the book is awesome and I promise it's worth the purchase and time. I will be purchasing the other diaries for my girls !!!
My 7 year old daughter is quickly becoming obsessed with chapter books. We actually found the first one at a thrift store and she read it in about 2 days. So of course we were on the hunt for the other ones. These books are really cute and easy for readers (of course, it depends on your child). They are fun to listen to as well. I would recommend these 'Owl Diaries' books for anyone ages 6-8.
These are great for children beginning to read chapter books! My second grader absolutely loves this series. Very cute story line and great graphics. My 7 year old finished the book In about an hour because she loved it so much she wanted to keep reading.
My 8 year old loves these books. She has the first 3 in this series. They have very colorful illustrations which makes it more fun to read! Will not disappoint your child!"This product was a personal purchase for myself at the normal retail/list price. I am reviewing it solely because I want to share my experience with other potential customers. I have received no compensation for my review nor do I have any relationship with the seller or manufacturer of this product."
Purchased for a 2nd grader who loves this series because they are super easy and fast to read while completely cute and entertaining. She gets tired of always reading wordy chapter books, so this series was a delight for her. She can't wait for more to be published.
